FAQ

(Frequently Asked Questions)

Question: Who uses THE PRINTWORLD DIRECTORY?
Answer:
THE PRINTWORLD DIRECTORY is a source book for art dealers, galleries, collectors, appraisers, decorators, architects, banks, curators, librarians, and many others.

Question: How can an artist apply to be considered as a candidate for inclusion in the directory?
Answer:
Anyone can apply if they think their credentials are appropriate. Print publishers and galleries may also submit their artist. Contact Printworld Inc, P O Box 1957, West Chester PA 19380

Question: Do artists pay to be listed in the directory?
Answer:
No! However, there is a nominal first-time fee of $200 to be entered into our system.

Question: How do you determine the prices in the secondary and primary markets?
Answer:
The prices are established by the print publishers, galleries, and artists in both markets. However, in the case of older and very rare prints, we consult the auction market and use the highest price paid for a particular print.

Question: How do you gather the information in the directory?
Answer:
We contact the print publishers, galleries, artists and auction prices.

Question: Do you include posters in the directory?
Answer:
Only signed and numbered posters by major artists are listed.

Question: Why are some very wonderful artists excluded because they do very large editions?
Answer:
It was an arbitrary decision to list only smaller editions. The directory would be ten times larger if we did not limit the prints listed to signed, numbered and limited editions. Initially, we didn't list any editions over 300. Recently, we have expanded the edition number to 500 to accommodate galleries, art dealers and appraisers.
